Comprehensive Insurance is Best

Tony called to claim on his trauma policy – he had just come out of hospital after a heart attack. The claim was submitted into the insurer who gathered all of the medical evidence from the hospital where Tony had been treated. The underwriter advised that the claim was declined. When questioned why, it turns out that Tony’s heart attack did not meet the ‘definition’ of a heart attack as defined in the policy.

The underwriter stated that while they could see from the medical evidence that Tony was a very sick man, under this policy, at this point with the current medical evidence, no claim was payable. Unfortunately, Tony only had trauma insurance. He was not comprehensively covered for death, total and permanent disablement and income protection. He was off work due to illness with no income and no ability to keep paying the premium on this policy.

Don’t get caught without comprehensive cover like Tony.
